Attendance
DeVry Dallas
Irving uses an Automated Tracking System (ATS) for recording students'
attendance. Attendance is recorded for Title IV government regulations
(Financial Aid), to track trends, and to help identify students
who may be at risk academically.
The ATS is
used by instructors and students. Students and professors assigned
to a course must swipe their ID cards to record attendance. Students
and instructors may begin to swipe their cards 10 minutes before
a class is scheduled to start. Students have until 10 minutes
after the hour to swipe their cards. Students swiping their cards
after 10 minutes past the hour will not be recorded as attending
the class. Classes lasting in length of more than an hour can
be accounted for by swiping at the top of each hour in the same
manner. Only students need to swipe during labs, not instructors.
Absenteeism may result in warnings, suspension, dismissal, and
loss of financial aid.
